About the Project

The Sister Cities Council of Tacoma fosters international connections and promotes peace through citizen diplomacy. By facilitating relationships between Tacoma and its sister cities across the globe, the organization builds bridges of mutual respect, cultural exchange, and community cooperation.

Despite its important mission, the Council lacked an online presence—limiting its ability to share updates, engage with the community, and highlight the work of its many volunteers and partner cities.

The Challenge

The organization needed a comprehensive, easy-to-navigate website that could:

• Clearly present its mission and initiatives

• Offer a dedicated page for each sister city, with consistent structure and relevant content

• Enable fundraising efforts for general support and specific programs

• Be easily updated by the Council moving forward

With over 20 individuals involved in content contributions from various sister city committees, managing input and streamlining the process was a core challenge.

The Solution

Change Muse developed a strategic plan for the website’s structure, content, and design—balancing clarity, usability, and visual appeal. Key deliverables included:

• A uniform page template for presenting each sister city, ensuring consistent branding and readability

• A custom content-gathering tool to guide committee members in submitting complete and structured information

• Integration of PayPal-based donation features, allowing for both general fundraising and campaign-specific contributions

• A simple CMS setup enabling the Council to post news and updates regularly

The Result

The website launched successfully, giving the Sister Cities Council of Tacoma its first official digital presence. The platform now:

• Showcases all sister city partnerships with clear, engaging content

• Supports fundraising and community involvement through integrated tools

• Provides an efficient structure for ongoing content updates, including a news feed and event announcements

The site has become a key asset in fulfilling the Council’s mission and strengthening Tacoma’s role on the global stage.
